S C Dutta Roy
Professor Suhash Chandra Dutta Roy earned his BSc (Hons) in Physics (1956), MSc (Tech) in Radio Physics and Electronics (1959), and DPhil degree (1965) all from the University of Calcutta. He worked as Research Officer (Electronics) at the River Research Institute, West Bengal (WB) for two years, before joining the University of Kalyani, as a lecturer. He was Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Minnesota (1965-68) before he joined IIT, Delhi as an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering. He was promoted to Professor in 1970 and served as the Head of the Department as well as Dean of Undergraduate Studies. On sabbatical leave from IIT Delhi, he spent a year at the University of Leeds and another year at the Iowa State University. After retirement in 1998, he continued at IIT Delhi, first as an Emeritus Fellow, then as INSA Senior Scientist, and finally as an INSA Honorary Scientist till 2010. Currently, he continues as INSA Honorary Scientist working from home and pursuing his research on circuits, systems and signal processing.
Dr. Ashok Rao
Dr. Rao holds a BE, ME & Ph.D all in EE from Mysore University (1982), Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (1985) and Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (1991) respectively.
He specializes in Digital Signal Processing area and is known to be one of the leading figures in this area in India. In addition he teaches and researches in areas of Image Processing, Multimedia, Linear Algebra, Renewable Energy, Bio-Metrics, Appropriate Technology & Sustainable Development, Management, Archeology, Education & Academic Reforms and ICT.
He has over 30 years of Teaching & Research Experience which Includes:
- 6 years in IIT Bombay,
- 7 years in IISc Bangalore,
- 4 years in NITK Surathkal, the rest in various places in India.
- He has successfully guided Ph.D’s both in E & C and Computer Science areas and has over 100 publications.
- He is also a Solar Photo Voltaic (SPV) specialist having been trained by Siemens Solar California during 1996-1997.
Earlier he was Head, Network Project at CEDT, IISc Bangalore from 1999-2005. It was a project funded by SDC (Swiss Agency for Development & Co-operation) and covered E & C Engineering education in whole of South India (Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerela). This is among the very few successful higher education projects in India. The learning’s and experiences from this project has been scaled up as TEQIP across India to cover broader Engineering Education.
- He is a Gold Medalist from IISc, Bangalore during 1983-85.
- He has been awarded Texas Instruments (TI) International DSP Design & Education Award for promoting Excellence in Under Graduate DSP education during 1996-98.
- He has received Citation from Philips Company for regularly crafting excellent UG students in E & C, in area of Signal processing & Digital Communication during 96-98.
- He is among the very few across the world to be invited to make a presentation in PAN-IIT-2006 global meet.
He is also a Entrepreneur having successfully started and managed several IT & Renewable Energy companies during 1998 to 2011. From 1999, he has been a Consultant on Design of DSP & Multimedia systems to Philips, NXP (Star TV), Tektronix, Honeywell, Toshiba, SONY, Infineon, Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, LG, etc.
From 2007, He has been a Guest / Visiting Professor at IIM Bangalore, teaching PGPP and PGSEM programs and executive MBA programs there. He teaches Entrepreneurship and Public Policy courses there. He is one of the very few to have taught courses & done research in multidisciplinary areas and Institutions like IIT, IISc, NIT and IIM in India. Currently he is also a Advisor for Research, Govt. of Kerala (Dept of Technical Education) from 2013.

Prof. Praveen C Ramamurthy received M.Sc in Polymer science in 1995 from University of Mysore. He obtained his PhD degree from University of Clemson in the year 2004. He worked as a R&D Engineer in Therm-O-Disc, Mansfield, OH, USA and Research Scientist in Hoku Scientific, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. He joined the Department of Materials Engineering, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India in the year 2007. He is also Associate faculty in Centre for Nano Science and Engineering and Inter Disciplinary Centre for Energy Research, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. His current research focuses on organic electronics including organic synthesis of conjugated polymer for the application in photovoltaics, sensors and transistors. His research group also focuses on fabrication of various architected Organic, Organic/Inorganic photovoltaics and also device interface engineering. Part of his research group works on materials for device package application and sensor for the organic volatile compound, heavy metals and biosensors. He has over 100 peer reviewed papers published and 15 patents to his credit.
Dr. Shayan Srinivasa Garani
Shayan Srinivasa Garani received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology – Atlanta, M.S. from the University of Florida – Gainesville and B.E. from Mysore University. Dr. Srinivasa has held senior engineering positions within Broadcom Corporation, ST Microelectronics and Western Digital. At IISc, he directs the Physical Nano-memories Signal and Information Processing Lab within the Dept. of Electronics Systems Engg. Prior to joining IISc, Dr. Srinivasa was leading various research activities, managing and directing research and external university research programs within Western Digital. He was the Chairman for Signal Processing for the IDEMA-ASTC and a co-chair for the overall technological committee. He is the author of a book, several journal and conference publications, holds more than a dozen U.S patents in the disruptive areas of data storage. Dr. Srinivasa is a Senior Member of the IEEE and OSA and the Chairman for the Photonic Detection group within the OSA and Vice-Chair (Academics) for IEEE. Data Storage. His research interests include broad areas of applied mathematics, physical modeling, coding, signal processing and VLSI systems architecture for novel magnetic/optical recording channels, quantum information processing, neural nets and math modeling of complex systems including music signals.
Vishal C Ravindra
Vishal C. Ravindra obtained his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Connecticut in Sep. 2009. Prior to that he obtained his MS in Electrical Engineering and BE in Electronics and Communication from the University of Colorado at Denver and PES College of Engineering, Mandya, respectively, in 2004 and 2001. He has worked as a Scientist at National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore from 2010-2012 and at GE Global Research as Lead Engineer in Bangalore since Nov. 2012. His research interests are in Estimation theory, Statistical signal processing and Statistical learning and have worked in domains such as internal engine controls, wind farm controls and unmanned aerial vehicle navigation.
